Ingredients

1 cup candied orange peel (store-bought or homemade)

8 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional for a smoother texture)

Sea salt, for sprinkling

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as almonds or pistachios)

Zest of 1 orange (for extra flavor)

Instructions

Prepare Your Ingredients: If you haven't done so already, chop the candied orange peel into smaller pieces (about 1/4 inch) for easier snacking. If using nuts, give them a rough chop.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and coconut oil (if using). Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can use a double boiler for this step.

Mix in Flavor: Once the chocolate is melted, stir in the chopped candied orange peel, chopped nuts (if using), and the orange zest. Ensure they are fully coated in chocolate.

Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the chocolate from sticking and make it easier to remove later.

Spread the Chocolate Mixture: Pour the chocolate-orange mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it into an even layer, about 1/4 inch thick.

Sprinkle Sea Salt: Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle a light dusting of sea salt over the top. This will enhance the flavor and provide a delightful contrast.

Chill the Bark: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30-60 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set and firm.

Break into Pieces: Once set, remove the bark from the refrigerator and gently lift it off the parchment paper. Use your hands or a knife to break it into pieces of your desired size.

Store or Serve: Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. If you prefer a sturdier bark, keep it refrigerated.
