Ingredients

2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, drained

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup diced red onion

1/4 cup finely chopped celery

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of sourdough bread

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 tablespoons butter, softened

Optional: sliced tomatoes or pickles for topping

Instructions

Prepare the Tuna Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, diced red onion, chopped celery, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Toast the Bread: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Place two slices, buttered side down, in the skillet.

Assemble the Tuna Melt: Evenly distribute the tuna mixture over the two slices in the skillet. Top each with a generous amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. If using, add sliced tomatoes or pickles at this stage for added flavor.

Top and Grill: Place the remaining slices of sourdough bread on top of the cheese, buttered side facing up. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Carefully flip to cook the other side and continue to grill until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 more minutes.

Serve: Once both sides are golden and the cheese is bubbly, remove from the skillet. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately for a gooey, cheesy delight!
