Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 shallots, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, roughly chopped

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon fish sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Juice of 1 lime

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

8 large lettuce leaves (Butter or Romaine)

Sliced cucumbers and chopped peanuts for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Gather and measure all ingredients. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry. Set aside.

Cook the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and chopped shallots to the skillet, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Brown the Chicken: Increase the heat to high and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until it is no longer pink and starting to brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Vegetables and Sauces: Stir in the diced red bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Then, add the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and red pepper flakes. Mix well, allowing the flavors to meld for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Incorporate the Basil: Once the chicken is cooked and saucy, remove the skillet from heat and fold in the chopped Thai basil leaves. Mix until the basil is wilted and well distributed throughout.

Assemble the Wraps: On a flat surface, take a lettuce leaf and fill it with a generous scoop of the Thai basil ground chicken mixture. Top with sliced cucumbers and a sprinkle of chopped peanuts if desired.

Serve: Roll the lettuce around the filling like a wrap and serve immediately. Enjoy these fresh, flavorful wraps with a side of extra lime wedges for squeezing.
