Ingredients

4 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)

12 slider buns

Coleslaw (for topping, optional)

Pickles (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Rub: In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful spice rub.

Season the Meat: Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels, then rub the spice mixture all over the meat, ensuring it's well-coated. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for more flavor.

Set Up the Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around the meat. This will keep the pork moist and add great flavor during the cooking process.

Slow Cook the Pork: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for about 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork. If you’re short on time, you can cook it on high for about 4-5 hours.

Shred the Pork: Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for a few minutes before shredding it with two forks.

Mix in BBQ Sauce: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker. Add the barbecue sauce and mix well to combine. Allow it to cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to heat through and meld the flavors.

Prepare the Sliders: While the pork is warming, you can toast the slider buns if desired. Simply open them and place them in a toaster oven or on a skillet for a minute or two until golden.

Assemble the Sliders: Take a generous portion of the pulled pork and place it on the bottom half of each slider bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles if desired, then cover with the top half of the bun.

Serve: Arrange the sliders on a serving platter and enjoy them warm. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
