Ingredients

2 Ahi tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)

1/2 cup sesame seeds (black and white mix for color)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon wasabi paste (optional)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon honey

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

1 avocado, sliced (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, wasabi paste (if using), rice vinegar, and honey. This will be the marinade for your tuna.

Marinate the Tuna: Place the Ahi tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Allow the tuna to marinate for about 15 minutes in the refrigerator, turning halfway through.

Coat with Sesame Seeds: On a flat plate, spread out the sesame seeds. Remove the tuna from the marinade and lightly pat the surface dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Press each side of the tuna steaks into the sesame seeds until well coated.

Sear the Tuna: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness. The exterior should be golden brown and crunchy, while the inside remains pink and tender.

Slice and Serve: Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice it against the grain into thin slices.

Plate the Dish: Arrange the tuna slices on a serving plate, and garnish with sliced green onions and avocado. Serve immediately, drizzled with extra marinade if desired. Enjoy your delicious Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna!
