Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 large potatoes, peeled and diced

1 cup beef broth

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup frozen peas (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 sheet of refrigerated pie crust (or homemade, if preferred)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

    - In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

      Brown the Beef:

        - Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.

          Combine Ingredients:

            - Stir in the diced potatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, tomato paste, and peas (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are just tender, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

              Prepare the Pie Crust:

                - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

                  - Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan, leaving some overhang.

                    Assemble the Pie:

                      - Pour the beef and potato mixture into the pie crust. Cover with the overhanging crust, and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits on the top for steam to escape.

                        Egg Wash:

                          - Beat the egg and brush it over the crust to give it a golden finish.

                            Bake:

                              - Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and flaky.

                                Serve:

                                  - Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the hearty flavors!
