Ingredients

For the Beef Filling:

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

¼ cup beef broth or water (as needed)

For the Homemade Salsa:

2 ripe tomatoes, diced

½ small red onion, finely chopped

1 jalapeño, seeds removed and finely chopped (optional for heat)

1 lime, juiced

¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembly:

8 small corn or flour tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

Sour cream (optional)

Avocado slices (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef Filling:

    - In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic, sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant and softened.

      - Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

        - Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. If the mixture looks too dry, add the beef broth or a splash of water. Mix well and let simmer for 2-3 more minutes for the flavors to meld. Remove from heat.

          Prepare the Salsa:

            - In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix and adjust seasoning if needed. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to combine.

              Warm the Tortillas:

                - In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side until soft and pliable. Keep them warm in a cloth or tortilla warmer.

                  Assemble the Tacos:

                    - On each tortilla, layer a scoop of the seasoned beef, followed by shredded lettuce, homemade salsa, and a sprinkle of cheese. Add sour cream and avocado slices if desired.

                      Serve:

                        - Serve the tacos immediately while warm with extra salsa on the side. Enjoy your delicious Spicy Zesty Beef Tacos!
