Ingredients

1 lb (450g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

Salt and pepper, to taste

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

1 cup orange juice (preferably fresh)

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1 tablespoon of sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water for thickening)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken: Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. In a large bowl, combine flour and cornstarch. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until they're well-coated.

Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the coated chicken pieces in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Make the Orange Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

Thicken the Sauce: Once the sauce is simmering, add the cornstarch and water mixture, stirring constantly. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

Combine: Add the fried chicken pieces to the skillet with the orange sauce. Toss until the chicken is well-coated in the sauce.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve the orange chicken hot over steamed rice or with stir-fried veggies.
