1 cup heavy cream

1 cup marinara sauce

3 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: 1 cup cooked shrimp or grilled chicken for added protein

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    Prepare the Base: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

      Add Garlic and Spices: Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

        Mix the Sauces: Lower the heat and pour in the marinara sauce and heavy cream. Stir continuously to combine, allowing the sauce to simmer and thicken for about 5 minutes.
