36 Oreo cookies (regular or double-stuffed)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 (12 oz) container Cool Whip, thawed

1 cup chocolate pudding mix (instant)

3 cups cold milk

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for topping)

Extra crushed Oreo cookies for garnish

                        Add more Cool Whip:
