Ingredients

1 pound lean ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat for a healthier option)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (for a kick)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures that your meatballs will cook evenly and get a nice golden crust.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, basil, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and milk. If you’re feeling adventurous, add the red pepper flakes for some heat. Mix everything gently with your hands or a spatula until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.

Shape the Meatballs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place each meatball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased to prevent sticking.

Cook the Meatballs: Drizzle the olive oil over the meatballs, or spray them lightly with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and have an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Serve: Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve them warm with a side of marinara sauce, over whole grain pasta, or alongside a fresh salad.

Store Leftovers: If you have any leftovers, cool them completely, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze them for up to 3 months.
