Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced

1 cup jasmine or basmati rice, uncooked

2 cups beef broth (or water)

2 tablespoons honey

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 cup snap peas or green beans, trimmed

1 red bell pepper, sliced

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Start by slicing the steak thinly against the grain. This helps to keep it tender. Mince the garlic, slice the red bell pepper, and trim the snap peas or green beans.

Cook the Rice: In a large skillet, combine the uncooked rice and beef broth over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed. Once done, fluff with a fork and keep covered.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Cook the Steak: In the same skillet (remove the rice and set it aside), melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for about 2-3 minutes until it’s browned and just cooked through. Be careful not to overcook it. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.

Sauté the Veggies: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter, and toss in the minced garlic, bell pepper, and snap peas. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp and the garlic is fragrant.

Combine Everything: Return the steak to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Pour the honey garlic sauce over everything, and stir well to combine. Make sure the steak and veggies are coated evenly. Allow it to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes so the flavors meld.

Add the Rice: Finally, add the cooked rice to the skillet, mixing everything together gently. Add the remaining butter and stir until melted and the rice is warmed through.

Serve and Garnish: Remove from heat and serve hot. Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
