Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Zest of 1 orange

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 3-4 oranges)

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional for added fluffiness)

Instructions

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, heavy cream, and whole milk until the sugar is completely dissolved. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice to the mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

If you want a fluffier texture, fold in the mini marshmallows gently with a spatula.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill the mixture thoroughly. This step is important as it helps achieve a creamier ice cream texture.

Once chilled, transfer the mixture to your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.

After churning, the ice cream will have a soft-serve consistency. For a firmer texture, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

When ready to serve, let the ice cream sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes to soften slightly for easier scooping.

Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy the refreshing taste of homemade orange creamsicle!
