Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for spreading)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 egg (beaten for egg wash)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until a dough begins to form.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Herb & Garlic Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic powder, chopped parsley, basil, thyme, and Italian seasoning until well combined. Set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick (approximately 12x18 inches).

Spread Filling: Evenly spread the herb and garlic mixture over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top for added flavor.

Roll Up: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal and ensure that the filling won’t escape during baking.

Slice the Rolls: Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 equal slices. Place each roll cut-side up in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll for expansion.

Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise again in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.

Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg for a nice golden color when baked.

Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool and Enjoy: Allow the rolls to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful herb and garlic flavors!
