Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the whole milk and honey (if using). Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

In a 9x13-inch baking dish, pour the melted butter, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly.

Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dough into the baking dish over the melted butter. It’s okay if they’re not perfectly rounded; rustic is good!

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits have risen.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious ham and cheese butter swim biscuits warm!
