Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup powdered sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1 cup white chocolate chips

1 cup black cocoa powder

Assorted Halloween-themed sprinkles

Edible eyes (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla and almond extracts until fully combined.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, black cocoa powder, and salt.

Combine: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Chips: Gently fold in the white chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Chill the Dough: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes. This will help the cookies hold their shape while baking.

Preheat Oven: Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Shape Cookies: Once chilled, scoop the dough using a tablespoon and roll it into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each to allow for spreading.

Decorate: If desired, add a few Halloween-themed sprinkles on top of each dough ball before baking. You can also place edible eyes on some of the cookies for an extra spooky touch.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden. The centers may look slightly undercooked; they will firm up as they cool.

Cool Down: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Serve: Once cooled, enjoy your spooky specter cookies with a glass of milk or as a festive treat for your Halloween gathering!
