Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or a deep-dish pie pan with cooking spray or butter.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.

Mix Sugars and Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with granulated sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using). The batter will be thick and gooey, which is exactly what you want!

Pour Into Pie Dish: Pour the batter into the prepared pie dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top has set and a toothpick inserted lightly comes out with a few moist crumbs (it’s better to under-bake slightly for that gooey texture).

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownie pie to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before slicing.

Enjoy: Serve warm or at room temperature, with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on the side for an extra indulgent treat!
