Ingredients

1 large unsliced round loaf of bread (preferably sourdough or Italian)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, rosemary)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easier cleanup.

Prepare the Bread: Place the round loaf on a cutting board. Using a serrated bread knife, make horizontal and vertical cuts across the loaf to create a grid pattern, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom.

Make the Garlic Herb Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended.

Soak the Bread: Carefully pull apart the sections of the bread slightly, and use a pastry brush or spoon to generously drizzle the garlic herb butter mixture between each cut. Make sure to coat the top and sides of the bread as well.

Add the Cheese: Stuff the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese into the cuts of the bread, pressing down gently to help the cheese stick and melt inside. Top the bread with any remaining cheese.

Wrap and Bake: Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil to keep the moisture in. Place the wrapped bread on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes.

Unwrap and Broil: After baking, carefully unwrap the aluminum foil and turn on the broiler. Place the bread back in the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for added color and freshness. Serve immediately while the cheese is still gooey!
