8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: Lemon wedges for serving

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine (or spaghetti) according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Add the chicken to the skillet, cooking for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

      Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

        Combine: Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Allow it to reduce slightly for about 2-3 minutes. Then, stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese while continuously stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

          Mix Everything Together: Add the chicken back to the skillet, followed by the cooked pasta. Toss everything together in the garlic butter sauce until well combined. Let it cook for an additional minute to heat through.
