Ingredients

1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage (or any leftover meat)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach – whatever you have on hand)

1/4 cup sliced black olives

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Dough: Dust your countertop with flour and roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x16 inches.

Mix the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, diced vegetables, black olives, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Assemble the Bread: Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges.

Roll it Up: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal it well. Tuck the ends under to prevent the filling from spilling out during baking.

Prepare for Baking: Place the rolled garbage bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a nice golden color.

Make Slits: Use a sharp knife to make a few slits on top of the bread, allowing steam to escape while baking.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Cool and Slice: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Slice the garbage bread into thick pieces and serve warm, optionally with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
