2 (3.4 oz) packages instant vanilla pudding mix

4 cups milk

1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup milk (for chocolate sauce)

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare the Pudding: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and 4 cups of cold milk. Combine well until smooth and creamy, and let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
