Ingredients

3 ripe avocados

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 medium tomatoes, diced

1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Juice of 1 lime

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.

Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired level of creaminess (smooth or chunky).

Add the chopped onion, diced tomatoes, jalapeño, and cilantro to the mashed avocado.

Squeeze the juice of the lime over the mixture. This will add flavor and help prevent browning.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you enjoy a garlicky flavor, add the garlic powder.

Mix everything together gently until well combined, but be careful not to over-mix.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed (more lime juice, salt, or pepper can be added).

Serve immediately with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or use as a topping for tacos and burritos.
