Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 pound chicken breasts, cut into strips

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried parsley

Cooking spray (or olive oil spray)

For the Zesty Ranch Dip:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon dried dill

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken strips, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for maximum flavor).

      Preheat the Oven:

        - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. This will help the tenders cook evenly and achieve maximum crispiness.

          Prepare Dredge Station:

            - Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, beat an egg (if you'd like to add a binding agent). In the third dish, mix the breadcrumbs, oregano, parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

              Dredge Chicken:

                - Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. One piece at a time, coat the chicken strips in flour, shaking off excess. If using the egg, dip it in the beaten egg, then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture thoroughly. Place the coated chicken tenders on the prepared wire rack.

                  Spray and Bake:

                    - Lightly spray the chicken tenders with cooking spray (or brush with olive oil) to help them crisp up. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).

                      Prepare Zesty Ranch Dip:

                        - While the chicken is baking, prepare the dip. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

                          Serve:

                            - Once the chicken tenders are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before serving. Plate with the zesty ranch dip on the side for dipping.
