Ingredients

1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)

1 cup panko bread crumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon taco seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Corn or flour tortillas (8 small)

1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix

1 avocado, sliced

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 lime, cut into wedges

Your choice of salsa or hot sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Fish: Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Cut them into strips, about 1.5 inches wide. Season the fish with salt, pepper, and taco seasoning, ensuring all pieces are coated evenly.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place the flour in one bowl, whisk the eggs in another, and put the panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika in the third bowl.

Bread the Fish: Dip each fish strip into the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it with the panko breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.

Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Fish: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the breaded fish strips in a single layer in the basket, ensuring there’s space between each piece for even cooking. Spray the tops lightly with cooking oil.

Cooking: Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping the fish halfway through the cooking time, until golden brown and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).

Warm the Tortillas: While the fish is cooking, warm the tortillas by either heating them in a dry skillet for a minute on each side or wrapping them in foil and placing them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.

Assemble the Tacos: Layer each tortilla with a generous amount of shredded cabbage or slaw mix, add 2-3 pieces of the crispy fish, and top with avocado slices and fresh cilantro.

Serve: Garnish with lime wedges and your choice of salsa or hot sauce. Enjoy your delicious crispy air fryer fish tacos!
