Ingredients

For the Filling:

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, and corn)

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

For the Biscuit Topping:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

    - In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

      - Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

        - Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

          - Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish or baking dish.

            Make the Biscuit Topping:

              - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

                - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.

                  - Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

                    - Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.

                      Assemble the Cobbler:

                        - Spoon dollops of the biscuit dough over the beef filling, covering it as evenly as possible.

                          - For a golden finish, brush the tops of the biscuit dough with melted butter if desired.

                            Bake:

                              - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.

                                - Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Garnish with chopped parsley for added color. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler!
