Cabbage Beef Bake

1 large head of green cabbage, chopped

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juices)

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

      Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned and crumbled, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

        Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices), cooked rice, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 5 minutes.

          In a large baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage evenly at the bottom.

            Spoon half of the beef mixture over the cabbage layer, then add the remaining cabbage on top.

              Finally, spread the rest of the beef mixture evenly over the last layer of cabbage.

                Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

                  After 30 minutes, remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, and return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

                    Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
