Ingredients

For the Sloppy Joes:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup dill pickles, chopped

1/4 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons yellow mustard

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Secret Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt to taste

To Serve:

4 hamburger buns

Lettuce, shredded

American cheese slices (optional)

Extra dill pickles for topping

Instructions

Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease.

Add Vegetables: Add the chopped onion and pickles to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onions become translucent.

Create the Sloppy Joe Mixture: Stir in the ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture is heated through and slightly thickened.

Toast the Buns: While the mixture simmers, you can toast the hamburger buns on a separate skillet or in the oven until golden brown.

Assemble Your Sloppy Joes: Spread a generous dollop of secret sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture on top. If desired, add a slice of American cheese, lettuce, and extra pickles.

Serve: Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately with fries or your favorite side!
