Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, onion, egg, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Pour in the milk and mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. Do not overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

Form Meatballs: Using your hands, scoop out approximately 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all the mixture is used, making roughly 20 meatballs.

Brown the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Carefully add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Brown them for 3–4 minutes on each side until they develop a golden crust. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Bake the Meatballs: Transfer the browned meatballs back to the baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Serve: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce to coat. Serve the meatballs hot over pasta, in a sub sandwich, or on their own!
