Ingredients

4 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon salt

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite, plus more for serving)

8 hamburger buns

Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, jalapeños

Instructions

Prepare the Pork: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Rub this spice mixture generously all over the pork shoulder. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Slow Cook: Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around the pork. Secure the lid and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily with a fork.

Shred the Pork: Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then shred it with two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat.

Mix with BBQ Sauce: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with your favorite BBQ sauce. Let it warm through for an additional 30 minutes on low.

Toast the Buns: If desired, lightly toast the hamburger buns under a broiler or in a pan to add a bit of crunch.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Place a generous scoop of the BBQ pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Add any optional toppings such as coleslaw, pickles, or jalapeños. Cap it with the top half of the bun.

Serve: Enjoy your delicious pulled pork sandwiches with extra BBQ sauce on the side!
