Ingredients

2 slices of sourdough bread

2 tablespoons of apple butter

4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon butter, softened

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

A pinch of sea salt

Fresh apple slices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Start by spreading 1 tablespoon of softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. This will create a beautifully crisp exterior when grilled.

Assemble the Sandwich: On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread 2 tablespoons of apple butter evenly. Layer 2 slices of sharp cheddar cheese on top of the apple butter. If desired, sprinkle a light pinch of cinnamon over the cheese for an extra flavor boost. Finally, place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.

Grill the Sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the assembled grilled cheese in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

Flip and Finish: Gently flip the sandwich using a spatula. Continue to grill for another 3-4 minutes or until the second side is also golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.

Serve & Enjoy: Remove the sandwich from the skillet. Allow it to cool for a minute, then cut it in half. If desired, garnish with fresh apple slices on the side for an added crunch and sweetness.
