Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped (any color)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup beef broth

1 cup fresh green beans, trimmed

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, and dried thyme. Mix until well combined.

Form Patties: Shape the beef mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 1 inch thick.

Brown the Patties: In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, sear the patties on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the browned patties to a plate and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth, stirring to combine and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Add Green Beans: Stir in the fresh green beans into the sauce, ensuring they're well-coated.

Combine and Bake: Return the patties to the skillet, placing them on top of the green beans and sauce mixture. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the patties.

Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the cheese is bubbling and golden.

Garnish: Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then slice and serve warm.
