Ingredients

2 large sweet onions (such as Vidalia or Walla Walla)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

Prepare the Onions:

    - Peel the onions and slice them into ½-inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings and set them aside.

      Prepare the Breading Stations:

        - In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

          - In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.

            - In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.

              Bread the Onion Rings:

                - Take each onion ring and coat it in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.

                  - Dip it into the beaten eggs, letting the excess drip off.

                    - Finally, dredge the ring in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure it sticks. Place the breaded onion rings on a plate or a baking sheet and repeat the process for all rings.

                      Preheat the Air Fryer:

                        - Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

                          Air Fry the Onion Rings:

                            - Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.

                              - Arrange the breaded onion rings in a single layer in the basket, making sure they don’t touch to ensure even cooking. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

                                - Spray the tops of the onion rings lightly with cooking spray for extra crispiness.

                                  - Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

                                    Serve:

                                      - Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces (like ranch, spicy mayo, or barbecue sauce) and enjoy your crispy, crunchy delight!
