Ingredients

1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for stir-frying)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine or brown rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the broccoli florets, and blanch for 2 minutes until vibrant green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the red bell pepper and blanched broccoli. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and stir well to coat. Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and the beef to heat through.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of cooked jasmine or brown rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
